Fashion’s Obsession with Domestic Abuse

February 5, 2016February 14, 2021 bgoeltzenleuchter

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed with fashion, it’s the use of women as objects, more so the innuendos if not flat out portrayals of domestic abuse. This can be especially seen in high fashion labels, such as Dolce and Gabana and Jimmy Choo. In the featured photograph of one

Violent Fashion Advertisements

December 1, 2015February 14, 2021 bgoeltzenleuchter

Fashion Industries seem to do anything they can for a little attention. Between the “Sexy Omish teen” and the “Goth male widow” trends that appeared at Coachella Music Festival, the ‘art’ aspect of fashion becomes more absurd with time. The romanticization of the beating/ murder of women in photography, however,

The long forgotten Teddy Boy subculture began in London during the initial rise of Rock N’ Roll, in the early 1950s. The style involved an Edwardian Drape Jacket, similar to post-war American zoot suits, and tapered trousers. This subculture marks the first group to differentiate themselves as teenagers, creating a

Inspiration for fashion can stem from any source; however, John Galliano is one of the very few fashion designers in the world who can say that he drew inspiration from war. In 2008, he debuted his menswear collection at Paris Fashion Week, and received both positive and negative feedback as

November 29, 2015February 14, 2021 bgoeltzenleuchter

In the world of fashion photography, there seems to be a trend of including sexual violence. Photographs from high end companies that feature abuse towards models are becoming more and more common. For what reason, we can’t be entirely sure. This is obviously wrong, but I’d like to dive into

About Us

The Art | Crime Archive (ACA) is a collaborative laboratory, teaching center, and web-based platform devoted to the study of the shadow space where art and crime overlap. The ACA’s online platform was created in 2012 and since its inception has functioned as a participatory archive for a wide range of scholars, artists, students, and community members. The ACA welcomes submissions of media and accompanying short essays on art, crime, and culture. The ACA peer-reviews submissions and only accepts materials that significantly contribute to the broader academic and artistic discourses on creativity and actual criminal behavior. As a general rule, it does not publish submissions related to crime fiction or figurative works.
