Have you ever been out driving and seen a crocheted stop sign and wondered to yourself what the purpose was for that? Well apparently so have politicians around San Diego County. This public art display has (controversially) turned over 100 stop signs into brightly blooming flowers using yarn and wire as discussed in the Huffington posts article. I think that these flowers do not make a stop sign look so diferent that a person would not reconize it. If anything I feel that the focus would go derectly to the sgin drawing more attiontion even though its not in a traditional way. How do you feel this effects the overall esthetics of the community, What do you think the risks are beyond imparing the view of a stop sign? Do you think it has positive or negative affect on San Diego civic pride overall?
