It appears as if the media has drawn our attention to the bad behavior of celebrities and reality television stars. The reason being because it is exciting, interesting, and undoubtedly catches our attention. Society has norms and when one breaks a norm, they are seen as deviant and frowned upon. So why is it that reality television stars and celebrities are paid and given positive attention for their bad behavior? The media provides such entertainment because it feeds society’s shameful pleasures. Adults may claim that they watch or read about the bad behavior for merely their own entertainment, but our youth starts to see it as a norm. Sadly, our media has done less idolizing of positive role models and turned our attention and elevated negative behavior.
