America criminalizes poverty in the way that if you are unsheltered and living on the street, you can be arrested and jailed. In the meantime, people are able to pay money to be able to visit parks and camp out overnight. This is the criminalization of poverty. Today, it is used as a negative label to those who cannot afford housing. Yet here, in this fashion bag, the word ‘hobo’ is being used as a fashion statement to commodify it.
