The image above is artwork done by Eric Almanza, he is known for his art that represents the protest towards Trump’s election and being a part of the Chicano Art Movement. The name of the artwork is called, In Search of a New Home, the painting also correlates with the strict immigration laws as well as going over stereotypes about Mexican Americans that the former president himself has mentioned. Although this political art is prevalent in California and other Hispanic communities in the United States, its meaning spreads awareness about where Mexican Americans feel wanted/safe.

The image demonstrates the struggles of immigrant families and crossing the border in order to have a fresh start, each member of the family in the artwork is wearing the colors red, white, and blue, in order to represent the destination they are heading towards. One of the main messages of this artist throughout his work is how he is caught between two cultures and deals with self-identity, meaning not feeling fully American and at the same time not feeling completely Mexican. The artist emphasizes how this was one of his main struggles growing up, and tied it into his artwork to display that it is a popular issue when it comes to minorities. The work that was done by Almanza is also a reflection of his past visiting Tijuana and going across the border in addition to experiencing the two different countries along with seeing the dramatic differences in how some may live compared to others.
