Artist Timi Páll, used nine months of her menstrual blood for an artwork piece. Many have considered it disgusting, but everyone has their unique interpretation on what art is. According to Timi ” I’ve used my period flow as an artistic substance like oil paints and pencils,” even went as far as to use tampons to create an embryo. Some people look at a painting and see drama and disgust behind it. It’s interesting how people aren’t open minded about menstruation and often see it as a taboo. My question isn’t really on what is art, but rather what challenges does an artist undertake with a taboo style of art? For there are those whom would consider it a crime against society.
