I wanted to take note of the “child leash.” Although was not able to capture a photo, I did find myself as a witness to quite an ironic scene this weekend. Strolling through Macy’s I passed by a women who was pulling her energetic child on a leash while cradling in her arms a small white dog. Excuse me, but if I’m not mistaken, something was definitely “wrong” here. Because the leash has derived from the nature of containing control of an animal, it seems as almost a criminal act to place your own child on the same level. But moreover to be holding your dog, instead of your child, switching there roles, displays an even greater twist on the presentation of our humanity? Is this a fad or a necessity to place your child on a leash?
