The Ecce Homo Painting is a botched restoration by Cecilia Jimenez. She saw that the picture of Jesus was fading, so she decided to take it upon herself to restore the painting. As you can see, she did a terrible job and many people accused her of vandalism. She later revealed that the priest gave her permission to do so. This botched restoration, later known as Potato Jesus (thanks to the Internet) ended up saving the local economy and bringing more tourists over. The church received an influx of visitors and later charged people to see the picture, increasing their revenue. Ironically, the painting originally was noted to not be anything profound, but through this botched job, it may have become an even better piece of art than before.
