Graffiti to many people is seen as an art and not as a crime. The one common objection is that graffiti is not art because it is vandalism and hence a criminal act. However, imagine music being played loudly and receiving a noise violation for disturbing the peace, a criminal act. The music wouldn’t cease being art because of the criminal act. Many also accuse graffiti of being simple or crude. Again many musicians are simple or crude but their music is still seen as art. Graffiti is art no matter how related to vandalism it may be. It is sad most graffiti is used in a criminal way and it could be seen in a much brighter light without such a direct connection to gangs and vandalism.
